House Vordon: Tyr and the Ringing Mountains
The coolest, greenest, and most argumentative of the seven cities, and the only one where you can say so out loud in the street.
Chapter on its way. This chapter downloads from the House Vordon relay as soon as you enter the region. Until then, here's a preview from Balic.

- Tyr sits high in the green foothills of the Ringing Mountains in the northwest, where it actually rains.
- Population: about 15,000 within the walls, and as many again in the estates and villages of the Tyr Valley.
- House Vordon, whose iron built the place. Tyr calls itself a free city these days, and what "free" means gets debated daily, loudly, in the squares.
- Shopping: the only iron mines on Aerun, a day up a guarded mountain road. Every other city needs Tyr's metal, and Tyr never lets anyone forget it.
- Water: seventeen public wells over a deep mountain spring, each one guarded. One hand-carried container per citizen per day, and cheaters are exiled.
In the region
- Tyr: the iron city in the mountains, newly free and proud of it.
- The Ringing Mountains: the western spine. Iron, gold, and all the rain.
- Eldorado: the rim town on a spur toward the high country. Last stop for supplies before the climb.
- Walis: a village on top of a stone spire, reached by rope.
- Bitter Well: sweet water, never enough of it.
- Osgaker: a west-coast salvage port.
Getting there
645 miles from Balic the short way, west through Urik and up the long western coast: three tendays and more. It's a long coast with few stops, so pack extra water.
