Distances and Days
Straight from the Caravan Guild's posted rate boards, which are always right and never generous.

* Balic and Raam are also connected by the Long Reach across the open silt: about 350 miles, but only five or six days by Guild skimmer convoy, against a tenday and a half by road. It's the fastest trip on the continent, and priced to match. Passengers and light cargo only; bulk freight goes round the ring.
The legs of the road
Clockwise from the north, about 1,400 miles all the way round:
| Leg | Miles | Along the way |
|---|---|---|
| Draj to Raam | 130 | Blackguard |
| Raam to Nibenay | 90 | The wall's turn down the coast |
| Nibenay to Gulg | 80 | The Crescent Forest (Gulg is reached by a forest track) |
| Gulg to Balic | 140 | Amber Valley (90 from Gulg), Altaruk (35 from Balic) |
| Balic to Urik | 150 | The southern run |
| Urik to Tyr | 495 | Hollowstorm (120 from Urik), Osgaker (about 260 beyond), the Ringing Mountains coast |
| Tyr to Draj | 315 | The long north run; Eldorado on a spur toward the rim |
Planning your days
The Guild counts in tendays, like everyone else on the continent, and its rate boards assume you do too.
- A walking caravan makes 20 to 25 miles a day: call it two hundred-odd miles a tenday. Divide the miles by twenty, then add a day for surprises.
- A loaded argosy makes 12 to 15 miles a day, about a hundred and thirty a tenday, and stops for nothing smaller than a mountain.
- A Guild skimmer convoy on the silt makes sixty miles a day or better, and nobody aboard can explain how.
- The west is a long haul. Between Urik and Tyr there's a lot of coast and not many stops. Pack extra water.
