Amber Valley
A caravanserai town in a valley of tan grass that turns gold every evening. Hence the name.

On the southern Ring Road, 50 miles east of Balic and 90 miles short of Gulg.
At a glance
- Size: small and all business: yards, wells, warehouses, and inns.
- Business: looking after the southern run. Every caravan between Balic and the eastern forest stops here, and Amber Valley takes a modest cut of all of it.
- Atmosphere: neutral ground by long tradition. Factors from rival houses drink in the same room and behave, because the alternative is finding another well.
Good to know
- Traveling solo? Start here. It's the best place on the ring to join a caravan. Everything passes through, and hiring happens out in the open in the yards every dawn.
- Hear it here first. News reaches Amber Valley before anywhere else in the south. So do rumors, in about equal amounts.
- Water is by the head. The wells are deep and reliable, and the town charges per drinker: people, animals, and yours.
